On April 10th, 2024, Democracy Media Network, in collaboration with the National Policy Forum (NPF) convened a multi-stakeholder discussion on “Protecting labour rights and promoting safer migration in Nepal”.

The event was graced by the presence of Hon. Minister Dol Prasad Aryal, Minister of Labour, Employment, and Social Security, as the chief guest. Dr. Sameer Khatiwada, Senior Public Management Economist at ADB, delivered the keynote address, offering valuable insights into the advancements and challenges surrounding labour supply and demand dynamics.

As committed by the organizers, a comprehensive report on the proceedings was prepared and made available for all stakeholders. On the occasion of Labour Day, the report was handed over to Hon. Minister Aryal on 2024/05/0. Hon. Minister Aryal highlighted that the recommendations in the document will aid in strengthening future policy formulation efforts, ensure safer migration of workers, and ensure that the rights of laborers are respected across all sectors.
