On 21 March, the National Policy Forum (NPF) successfully concluded Digital Democracy in Practice: Governance and Civic Responsibility, a Civic Literacy Workshop held in Kirtipur, Kathmandu. The workshop opened with discussions on cyber harms, digital safety, and security, including an overview of relevant cyber laws such as legal frameworks governing online behavior, digital privacy, and responsible technology use.
Participants explored real-world challenges like cyber harassment, data breaches, and online threats, and also discussed practical digital safety measures, such as protecting personal data, safe online communication, and strategies to navigate digital spaces responsibly.
By the end of the session, participants had strengthened their capacity to engage ethically online and developed simple, issue-based digital civic action plans. Through participatory dialogue, youth critically examined both the risks such as misinformation, unsafe online practices, and cyber threats and the opportunities to foster a safer, more informed, and inclusive digital environment.
This program was organized by National Policy Forum (NPF) under the Digital Democracy Initiative, with support from CIVICUS: World Alliance for Citizen Participation, DDI South Asia ,and Accountability Lab
